So, the past 7 months have been a a blur.
As usual, I took on a new challenge and sunk myself deep into it , learning as much about a new industry and it's players as I could. I worked around the clock, reading, studying, and applying what I knew to help bring a new brand into the market.
I did what I could given the parameters I was able to work within. While the product and team are great, they just need to find their groove. I was laid off with half of the team so that they could regroup and focus.
So, I'm off to a find a new adventure again.
It's funny, I learned so much over the past few months. I really was very fortunate to have some amazing colleagues with can-do attitudes. No matter how nutty things may have seemed, we just rolled up our sleeves and dove in.
Ah...what to do next? The first 10 years of my career I worked on the vendor side, selling data and market research. The next 9, I had my own boutique consulting practice and was honored to work for some of the largest companies in the world. Then I formed a new company with a very talented colleague and we put everything we had into it, only to be foiled by an alleged investment banker. (Oh, I can't wait to write the book on that one.) And the last 7 months I've been part of the client side.
It is frustrating to know what works and not to be able to execute properly. Sometimes, extenuating circumstances do not allow for the time & resources to do what you need to do. When you wear lots of hats, not everything can take priority.
But that said, I've had a great ride these last 20+ years. I still wake up and see the angle in everything. I love the whole soup to nuts view of identifying the market, the propects, the benefits, the values, and the messaging (storytelling) that is needed to communicate it all.
Now that I am back in adventure-seeking mode -- I see possibility everywhere. And that feels good!
Looking forward to posting more...
XO,
Wendy
